eternity. "Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.
For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright."
Psalms 11:6-7

“HELL IS A LAKE OF FIRE”
REVELATION 20:10
NOBODY PARTIES IN HELL
Don't be fooled!
People don't like to hear about hell. But I'm here to tell you that if Jesus is not your Lord and Savior, you are on your way to
hell. Some of you will be upset at this bad news. You think that I'm all gloom and doom. Tell me this. If your house were on
fire, would you want me to let you know? Of course you would. You'd probably thank me for telling you. Well, if you go to
hell, YOU will be the one on fire. Hell may not be a politically correct topic these days, but many people enter it everyday. Out
of the 120,000 people that die everyday, most end up in hell. It's a real place despite the fact that people laugh and say that they want to go there. They simply don't understand how terrible it is. Just because you've never seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
We have a searing, accurate description of what hell is like in God's word. (We'll get to some scriptures in a minute) Hell is
awful and if you don't believe in Jesus, you'd better get on the stick or else that's going to be your eternal destination.
Satan, the god of this world, WILL NOT always cause havoc. His doom is already foretold, "And the devil that deceived them
was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for
ever and ever." (Revelation 20:10)
Did you know that if you do not belong to Jesus Christ you belong to Satan? You don't have to be a card carrying Satanist to
serve Satan. You don't have to be a murderer, drunkard or drug addict, either. All you have to do is ignore Jesus Christ.
How many times have I heard someone say, "A loving God wouldn't put His creatures in hell." Well I have news for you,
friend, God doesn't put anyone in hell--their sins put them there. Know ye not that hell was not created for man? It was
created for the devil and his angels--
Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and
his angels. (Matthew 25:41)
Men go to hell because they choose the devil's way and reject the Lord Jesus. God is holy and will not allow any sin in His
kingdom. As a result, when people die in their sins they are forever banished from the presence of God to a place called hell--
and it ain't pretty. Incidentally, Satan won't be ruling in the lake of fire. He'll be screamin' and hollerin' just like everybody
else--
the devil...shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. (Revelation 20:10)
Think about this...God, out of profound love for you--a vile sinner who has transgressed His commandments--let His own
beautiful, dear Son be sacrificed for YOUR sins! Jesus wasn't a sinner. He didn't sin one time. He didn't die for Himself. He
died for you. To save YOU. That's why He is called the Saviour. Because He SAVES from hell! If you reject His sacrifice
and trod it underfoot it should not be too hard for you to understand that the same God who sacrificed His beloved Son will expeditiously cast your rebellious hind parts into the lake of fire. NOTHING unclean will ever enter God's heaven--and all unregenerate people are unclean. I too was once dead in trespasses and sins, but one lovely day I turned my face to Jesus
and got washed in the blood. You can too--no matter what you've done.
Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though
they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isaiah 1:18
God does not want you in hell! Jesus came to save you from that horrible place! Don't lie and say God puts people in hell!
Get right with Jesus and you won't go there! Look at these scriptures:
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live:
turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die... (Ezekiel 33:11)
The Lord is...not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (II Peter 3:9)
The Bible says that God loves you so much that the Creator of this universe (Jesus Christ) came to "taste death" for every
man. Jesus wasn't just some baby for a manger scene. He is God come in the flesh to destroy the power of death and hell--
He holds the keys, people! If you say yes to Jesus, hell won't be your final destination. If you say no to Jesus, hell will be
your eternal home. There ain't no getting out and no comfort--it's everlasting.
Regardless of whether you believe it or not, hell exists and the Bible says that it is never full. I've heard folks say that hell is
not mentioned in the Bible or that hell is just the grave. Well, let's take a look at what the Bible says. Here are a few scriptures
that deal with hell and the lake of fire (at the final judgment, hell, death and those not written in the book of life will be cast
into the lake fire):
Matthew 25:41 (Jesus speaking to people at final judgment), ...Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for
the devil and his angels.
Revelation 14:11, And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night...
Revelation 20:12, 15, And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book
was opened, which is the book of life...And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Matthew 10:28, And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to
destroy both soul and body in hell.
Luke 12:5, But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea,
I say unto you, Fear him.
Matthew 18:8-9 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to
enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend
thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be
cast into hell fire.
Matthew 25:46, And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
II Thessalonians 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory
of his power.
Isaiah 66:24, And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcasses of the men that have transgressed against me: for their
worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be abhorring unto all flesh.
Mark 9:44 (speaking of hell), Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Jude 1:7, Sodom and Gomorrha...are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
Matthew 22:13, ...Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 13:41-42, The Son of man (Jesus) shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Revelation 21:8, But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Psalm 18:5, The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. (II Samuel 22:6)
Psalm 116:3, The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.
Psalm 9:17, The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
Isaiah 14:11-15, Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee...all they shall
speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us? Thy pomp is brought down to the
grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee...thou shalt be brought down to
hell, to the sides of the pit.
Daniel 12:2, And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame
and everlasting contempt.
The following is a true story as told by the Lord Jesus in Luke 16:19-31:
19. There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:
20. And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
21. And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
22. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died,
and was buried;
23. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in
water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things:
but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
27. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28. For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the
dead.
Sinner, you will either TURN from your sins to Jesus or you will BURN for your sins. If you reject the Lord Jesus Christ,
you will be tormented in the flames forever without a single, solitary hope. The biggest fool in the world chooses hell. No
need to argue with me about this. God said hell is real, your argument is with Him and you won't win that one. You have
been warned. Repent or perish.

"There seems to be a kind of conspiracy, especially among middle-aged writers of vaguely liberal tendency, to forget, or to conceal, where the doctrine of Hell comes from. One finds frequent references to the ‘cruel and abominable medieval doctrine of Hell’ or ‘the childish and grotesque medieval imagery of physical fire and worms . . . ‘
But the case is quite otherwise; let us face the facts. The doctrine of Hell is not ‘medieval’: it is Christ’s. It is not a device of ‘medieval priestcraft’ for frightening people into giving money to the church: it is Christ’s deliberate judgment on sin. The imagery of the undying worm and the unquenchable fire derives, not from ‘medieval superstition,’ but originally from the Prophet Isaiah, and it was Christ who emphatically used it. . . . One cannot get rid of it without tearing the New Testament to tatters. We cannot repudiate Hell without altogether repudiating Christ."

Numbers 16:30-32
But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them,
and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.
31 And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under
them:
32 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah,
and all their goods.

Can you imagine the agony of perpetually falling with molten hot flames roaring through every part of your body,
excruciating agony with no relief, pain that horrible even our worst nightmares couldn't prepare us for, pain so bad
you would weep for eternity, pain so gruesome that teeth would be gnashed in an agonising frenzy, consciously aware
of those deeds we have done in the flesh those we have hurt, tormented by our WORST fears and more for all eternity
Praise the LORD that I have been spared that, Praise the LORD that although I am quite aware of the existance of hell,
I will never go there, I just pray that many souls are delivered from that fiery torment before its to late!

Researchers record the screams of Hell!
Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them.Amos 9:2
Ammenusastia

"It seems the researchers had drilled a nine-mile-deep hole and were astonished at what they heard down there: A geological group who drilled a hole about 14.4 kilometers deep in the crust of the earth are saying that they heard human screams. Screams have been heard from the condemned souls from earth's deepest hole. Terrified scientists are afraid they have let loose the evil powers of hell up to the earth's surface.
'The information we are gathering is so surprising, that we are sincerely afraid of what we might find down there,' stated Dr Azzacov, the manager of the project in remote Siberia.
'The second surprise was the high temperature they discovered in the earth's center. 'The calculations indicate the given temperature was about 1,100 degrees Celsius, or over 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit,' Azzacov pointed out. 'This is far more then we expected. It seems almost like an inferno of fire is brutally going on in the center of the earth.
'The last discovery was nevertheless the most shocking to our ears, so much so that the scientists are afraid to continue the project. We tried to listen to the earth's movements at certain intervals with supersensitive microphones, which were let down through the hole. What we heard turned those logically thinking scientists into a trembling ruins. It was a sometimes a weak, but high pitched sound which we thought to be coming from our own equipment,' explained Dr Azzacov.
'But after some adjustments we comprehended that indeed the sound came from the earth's interior. We could hardly believe our own ears. We heard a human voice, screaming in pain. Even though one voice was discernible, we could hear thousands, perhaps millions, in the background, of suffering souls screaming. After this ghastly discovery, about half of the scientists quit because of fear. Hopefully, that which is down there will stay there,' Dr Azzacov added.
'What really unnerved the Soviets, apart from the voice recordings, was the appearance that same night of a fountainhead of luminous gas shooting up from the drill site, and out of the midst of this incandescent cloud pillar a brilliant being with bat wings revealed itself with the words (in Russian): 'I have conquered,' emblazoned against the dark Siberian sky.
'The incident was absolutely unreal; the Soviets cried out in terror,' says Mr. Nummedal. Later that night, he saw ambulance crews circulating in the community. A driver he knew told him that they had been told to sedate everybody with a medication known to erase short term memory. The Soviets use this drug in the treatment of shock victims.
"As a communist I don’t believe in heaven or the Bible but as a scientist I now believe in hell," said Dr. Azzacove." Needless to say we were shocked to make such a discovery. But we know what we saw and we
know what we heard. And we are absolutely convinced that we drilled through the gates of Hell!"
Dr. Azzacove continued,". . .the drill suddenly began to rotate wildly, indicating that we had reached a large empty pocket or
cavern. Temperature sensors showed a dramatic increase in heat to 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit."
"We lowered a microphone, designed to detect the sounds of plate movements down the shaft. But instead of plate movements we heard a human voice screaming in pain! At first we thought the sound was coming from our own equipment."
"But when we made adjustments our worst suspicions were confirmed. The screams weren't those of a single human, they were the
screams of millions of humans!
Only a fool will reject God's Word and His promise of eternal life. Whether the screams you've heard are real or not they will be ten times greater if you die without God's Son, Jesus Christ! Love paid the way. Just outside the gates of Hell and the doors of our churches pleading. Pastor Del Wray

I agree with Dr. Grady. I'll tell you one thing though ... the Word of God proclaims that Hell is real, and you can rest assure
that those who die in their sins without Christ as Savior will be tormented in the fires of Hell (Gehenna) forever (Revelation
20:11-15). Will you risk your soul's eternal damnation on the gamble that the Bible is not God's Word? Not me! I believe
that the Bible is God's Word. My trust is solely in Jesus, the Christ, and the blood that He shed to pay for all my sins
(1st Peter 1:18,19). Won't you believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ too? -David J. Stewart

Jesus's Description of Hell:
Mt 5:29 - And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Mt 5:30 - And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy
members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell
Mt 10:28 - And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy
both soul and body in hell.
Mt 22:13 - Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness;
there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Mt 24:51 - And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of

Mt 25:30 - And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Lu 13:28 - There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the
prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.
Mt 16:18 - And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall
not prevail against it.
Mt 23:15 - Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when
he is made, ye make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.
Mr 9:47 - And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than
having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Lu 10:15 - And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.
Lu 12:5 - But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea,
I say unto you, Fear him.
Lu 16:23 - And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
2Pe 2:4 - For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness,
to be reserved unto judgment;
Mt 12:40 - For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three
nights in the heart of the earth. (Jesus was not sleeping when He was crucified and then rose on the third day. Jesus was
taking care of business. He went to Hell and took the keys of death and Hell from Satan. Then after He had bruised Satan's
head, He Rose again with all power in Heaven and in Earth.)
Re 1:18 - I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Re 20:14 - And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

A Voice from Hell!
"Oh, why am I here in this place of unrest.
when others, have entered the land of the blest?
God's way of salvation was preached unto men;
I heard it and heard it, again and again.
Why did I not listen and turn from my sin
And open my heart and let Jesus come in?
For vain earthly pleasures my soul did I sell.
The way I have chosen has brought me to hell.
I wish I were dreaming, but ah, it is true.
The way to be saved I had heard and I knew,
My time on the earth, oh, so quickly fled by.
How little I thought of the day I would die.
When God's Holy Spirit was pleading with me.
I harden my heart and I turned from His plea.
The way that was sinful, the path that was wide,
I chose and I walked till the time that I died.
Eternally now, I must dwell in this place.
If from my memory I could but erase.
The thoughts of my past, which are haunting me so.
Oh, where is the refuge to which I can go?
This torture and suffering how long can I stand?
For Satan and devils this only was planned.
God's refuge is Jesus, the One that I spurned;
He offered salvation, but from Him I turned.
My brothers and sisters I wish I could warn.
For better would be If I had not been born.
The price I must pay is to horrid to tell.
My life without God led me directly to Hell.
Oh, soul without Christ, will these words be your cry?
God's Word so declares it that all men must die.
From hell and it's terrors. Oh, flee while you may!
So, come to the Saviour. He'll save you today!"

The Treasure Map
by Dr. C. Matthew McMahon
doubloons, gems, precious stones, pearl necklaces, and the like—a treasure worth billions! It would be all yours for the taking
if you followed the map’s instructions to the hidden treasure. It may be that the map described difficult circumstances to
overcome, maybe a perilous journey to reach the buried treasure. Would that stop you from trying to obtain it? What if you
knew that without a shadow of a doubt the treasure would be yours absolutely? Would that make the journey any more
tempting? I think it would.
What you are holding in your hands is a map to a treasure. Yet this is a very peculiar treasure indeed. You do not have to
traverse the raging sea on an old pirate ship, or climb the Alps, or work your way through a dozen life-threatening booby-
traps to obtain it. There is difficulty involved in obtaining it, but not that kind of difficulty. It is also a unique map, in that,
without gaining the treasure which this map leads you to, you will not only lose your life, but your very soul as well.
This map is a map to the treasure of eternal life and the glory of God. Eternal life should be far more pleasing to gain than
a few nuggets of gold which can be stolen or spent on worldly pleasures. Eternal life, for those who have it, is a treasure
they can keep for all eternity. The map I am speaking of is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In its full context, the treasure map
to eternal life is fully explained in the Bible, but I believe we can traverse the basics of that map here in a short outline.
Salvation is a mighty work of the One True God of the Universe. He has outlined in His Word the map to gain this treasure
of salvation very clearly. First we must ask, what is "salvation"? Salvation by God through Jesus Christ is the deliverance
from His wrath due to us by sin, and regaining the ability of glorify Him in righteous living. The salvation which God offers
us begins with an understanding of who God is and what He requires of us. This is the first clear marker to the treasure of
eternal life on our map.
What is God? God is a Spirit, in and of himself infinite in being, glory, blessedness, and perfection; all-sufficient, eternal, unchangeable, incomprehensible, everywhere present, almighty, knowing all things, most wise, most holy, most just, most
merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. He is the Sovereign King over all of creation.
He rules us with all the perfections of His character. Psalm 47:8 says, "God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy
throne." He is not an idol of gold, or a image of a bird-man. He is not part of creation. He is not a mere force. He is the
Creator, not the created. Our first marker to eternal life is the glorious God of creation.
Our second marker on the map to eternal life tells us what God requires of us. God requires that all men should perfectly
obey His commandments and imitate His righteous, just, and holy character to the glory of God. In other words, we are
to be perfect. Are you perfect? Have you ever sinned? Matthew 5:48 says, "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your
Father in Heaven is perfect." If we are to be perfect, and we know we are not perfect, does not that present a great
problem for us? Has any man born under Adam ever been perfect? The answer to this is "NO!" The problem: God is
holy and we are not. He has given us His law that binds our conscience to perfect conformity in character and conduct.
But we are not able to keep His law. His commandments condemn us at every turn. They continually point out our sin.
The Ten Commandments exist to demonstrate God's holy character and our sinfulness. Romans 3:20, "Therefore by the
deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin." Through the law we are
made conscious of sin, but we cannot keep the law, and always sin before the face of God and His holiness. There is
nothing He does not see us do, and nothing we can think that escape Him. He is all knowing, and knows our thoughts
and actions completely. We are open books to His holy gaze that sees all our sinful deeds. The law stands to condemn
us in this. We stand guilty before Him because of our sin and wickedness (disobeying the law). Why do we do what we
do? Why do we sin so much? That leads us to our next marker.
Our third marker helps us to understand who we are before God. God created Adam, the first man, in righteousness,
holiness and truth, with dominion over the animals. When Adam sinned, he sinned as a representative of the whole human
race. We all sinned in him and with him because he was our representative. Through Adam we have inherited a corrupt
and sinful nature. That is why we can never be perfect. God counted Adam's sin to our account. This corruption of our
nature is wholly at odds with God. Its lacks righteousness before God because it is not a perfect righteousness. Our sin
nature has an inclination toward evil thoughts and renders us unable to save ourselves by keeping the commandments God
gave us. Nothing we can do can make us perfect. Romans 5:12 says, "...through one man, sin entered the world, and death
through sin, and thus death spread to all men because all sinned." We are all sinful before God. Romans 3:23 says, "For all
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." And none of us can earn our way into heaven; "Therefore by the deeds of
the law no flesh will be justified in His sight." (Romans 3:20) No work is good enough to merit eternal life before God.
The next marker on our map is quite dreadful. As a result of our sin in Adam, and since God is holy, He must punish
imperfect sinful people. Our rebellious nature, and our violation of God’s revealed will, deserve His justice against our sin.
He must punish sin justly. Sinning against an infinite God deserves a punishment of infinite duration. It is eternal punishment.
Ezekiel 18:20 says, "The soul that sins, shall die." This death is not merely the death of the body, but eternal death in hell.
Hell is where God’s wrath is carried out against sinners forever. Matthew 10:28 says, "And do not fear those who kill the
body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both body and soul in hell." This is a most severe
and dreadful punishment. It is utterly horrifying to be cast into hell among the damned of God. Those who are in hell now,
would give anything to have one moments peace and rest away from His wrath. They are wishing that their torment was just
one sin less than it is right now because it is so horrible.
Yet, though the truth of eternal damnation be horrifying for all sinners, there is a marker on our map to eternal life which is
able to give us hope. This is the most glorious and shining marker on our map—it is the person and work of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became a man to save sinners from God’s wrath. John 3:16 says, "For God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone who believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life." As a sinless man, Jesus is able to represent sinners as One who has perfectly obeyed God’s holy law and
has imitated His righteous character in every way. As the only God-man, He was able to die on the cross for sinners in their
place and fully satisfy the deserved punishment those sinners would have received. John 10:11, 17 says, "I am the Good
Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep. Therefore My Father loves me because I lay my life down that
I may take it up again." Sinners must believe this to be saved from God‘s wrath.
Jesus Christ did not remain dead in the grave. He is not dead even now. He has risen from the grave and ascended up into
heaven in a glorious state. 1 Corinthians 15:20 says, "But now Christ is risen from the dead." And all those believing on this
risen savior shall be saved forever. John 11:25 says, "I am the resurrection and the life!! He who believes in me though he
die, yet shall he live." Jesus is the "X" that marks the spot!
We see that our treasure map to eternal life has lead us to the Lord Jesus Christ who died on the cross and rose again from
the dead for sinners. But there is another marker on our map which can help us understand how to obtain the salvation
which has been spoken of above. In order to be saved from the wrath to come, one must plead for mercy and seek
repentance through Jesus Christ. Repentance is a sight of sin, sorrow of sin, confession of sin, shame for sin, hatred for
sin and turning from sin. We must see we are guilty. We must have sorrow over our guiltiness because we have sinned
against God Himself. We must confess this sin and ask for the cleansing blood of Christ to wash our sins away. Our shame
for this sin should cause us to hate it because it offends a holy God. And we must turn from it towards holiness of life.
Luke 13:3 says, "Unless you repent you will all likewise perish." Unless this repentance is exemplified by you, you can
never have the treasure of eternal life.
Repentance leads to yet another marker on our map of eternal life—faith in Christ. The faith that saves is not merely a head knowledge of certain facts about God and Jesus Christ; instead it is the trust of one’s life to these truths forever. This faith is
a gift which God gives people. Ephesians 2:8-9 say, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works lest anyone should boast." This is saving faith. God grants sinners faith as they
repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Here we have our buried treasure. Here we have Jesus Christ; He who is far
more precious than a few nuggets of gold. "To you who believe, He is precious." (1 Peter 2:7)
How wonderful it is that our treasure map of eternal life has lead to the treasure of Jesus Christ!—but there is still more.
The map of the Gospel does not end. We do not just dig up the treasure of Christ and then think we have accomplished
our goal in finding the treasure. This Gospel map also shows us what God requires of those who say they have believed in
Christ and have faith in Him. When the treasure chest of Christ is opened up, we find other parts of the Gospel map which
we did not previously have. It would be like an old treasure map which may have been torn up into pieces, and when one
treasure is found then the next part of the map is found as well to reveal something more.
So how does this apply? It is true that the Bible was given to show us eternal life through faith in Christ. 1 John 5:13 says,
"these things were written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know you have eternal life, and
may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God." But true faith breeds a holiness of life as well. Christ does not only
save us, but He then requires our obedience. This helps us to know we are truly saved. Our assurance that we have been
saved by Christ is seen in three ways: first, through the testimony of the Scriptures; secondly, through the Holy Spirit’s
testimony to our own spirits that the Words of God are true concerning His Son (Romans 8:16); and lastly, it also comes
through the testimony of a changed life. Our repentance (Acts 26:20), Baptism (Matthew 28:19-20), godly works
(Ephesians 2:10), daily prayer (Matthew 6:5), Bible study (1 Peter 2:2), faithful attendance and membership in a bible-believing church (Hebrews 10:25) and our striving towards obedience of His commandments must all be present in us. These must be a
part of every true believer. Salvation from sin demands this change. It is a radical salvation that God brings to us through Christ. How could we not be radically changed?!
So we see our treasure map, then, continues to lead us closer to Jesus Christ. The Bible can tell you much more than what was presented in this simple tract. Read it thoroughly. It will lead you to the "X" which marks the spot—the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There the chest is filled with salvation’s mysteries; the crown of thorns, the iron nails, the blood drenched beams of wood, the
empty tomb, the Risen Savior. There you will find the glory of God, a treasure beyond your wildest aspirations. May the treasure map of the Gospel help you see the infinite worth of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Redeemer of men, and help you to glorify Him forever. For it is this end which you were created—to glorify the Living God. In Christ we are able to do just that for all eternity. AMEN.
