"Within this wondrous volume
lies
The mystery of mysteries;
Happiest they of human race
To whom their God has given grace
To read, to fear, to hope, to pray,
To lift the latch, to find the way;
And better had they ne'er been born
Who read to doubt, or read to scorn."
Sir Walter Scott
God's gift to you is everlasting life through Jesus Christ, His Son There is no greater love then this... "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9 Acceptance of these truths has given great peace, joy and thankfulness in my life. I have received everlasting salvation by faith in Jesus Christ and by God's marvelous grace. Saved Now and Forever.

There are any number of reasons that I go armed. On occasion I have been asked about it, so I thought I might set forth just a few of those reasons.
First, I go armed, because it is my God-given, unalienable right as a man. The Scriptures confirm the right of self-defense time and again. In particular, our Lord instructed His disciples to arm themselves. It was such a priority that He told them to sell their coats, if need be, to procure those arms.
Luke 22:36
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Second, I go armed because it is my duty as a husband, a father and a grandfather to protect my family to the utmost of my ability.
1 Timothy 5:8
But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
According to Strong, the word translated provide, literally means: “to consider in advance, that is, look out for beforehand.”
This includes more than just financial provision, by necessity it includes their security, safety and general well-being.
My wife, my grown children and my grandchildren see me go armed almost all of the time. They know that I am doing all that I can to guard them and our well-being. I have considered “in advance” what might be necessary for their protection and have made provision for it.
Third, and partially an outgrowth of the previous point, I go armed as an example and encouragement to others.
I want to encourage my family, our church members, and my friends and acquaintances to go armed, not only by my words, but by my actions.
Philippians 3:16-17
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Fourth, I go armed because there are evil men that would do me or mine harm.
Mark 3:27
No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
Can anyone read the paper or watch the news and not realize that we live in a wicked and sin-cursed world. We must be prepared to face wicked men.
Most of you may remember the August 15, 2012 incident that occurred at the Family Research Council in Washington, DC. According to the tagline on their web site header, the Council stands for “the advancement of faith, family and freedom.”
Recently the shooter in that incident pled guilty to the charges brought against him and the FRC made the following news release that pretty much speaks for itself:
Shooter Used Southern Poverty Law Center's Website to Identify FRC as Target.
FRC's Tony Perkins again calls on SPLC to Stop Reckless Labeling of Christian Organizations.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Earlier today, Floyd Lee Corkins, II, pleaded guilty to three charges including a District of Columbia charge of committing an act of terrorism. The charges stem from the August 15, 2012 shooting at the Family Research Council's headquarters.
Today's hearing also revealed that in the interview with the FBI right after the shooting, the shooter admitted his guilt, which was captured on video. He said he intended to "kill as many as possible and smear the Chick-Fil-A sandwiches in victims' faces, and kill the guard." The prosecutor said they reviewed the family computer and found that he identified his targets on the Southern Poverty Law Center's web site.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins offered the following reaction:
"The day after Floyd Corkins came into the FRC headquarters and opened fire wounding one of our team members, I stated that while Corkins was responsible for the shooting, he had been given a license to perpetrate this act of violence by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center which has systematically and recklessly labeled every organization with which they disagree as a 'hate group."
"Today both assertions were validated in court as Corkins plead guilty to multiple criminal charges, including terrorism."
"The Southern Poverty Law Center can no longer say that it is not a source for those bent on committing acts of violence. Only by ending its hate labeling practices will the SPLC send a message that it no longer wishes to be a source for those who would commit acts of violence that are only designed to intimidate and silence Christians and others who support natural marriage and traditional morality."
"Once again, I call on the SPLC to put an immediate stop to its practice of labeling organizations that oppose their promotion of homosexuality."
"Whether the SPLC continues to demonize those who hold to biblical morality or not, the Family Research Council will remain unequivocally committed to our mission of advancing faith, family and freedom," concluded Perkins.
Now, let me get into some specifics here.
Whatever the FRC may be in the liberty movement, the League, and our local church are in spades.
Whatever things the advocates of political correctness and collectivism and liberalism find to hate in the FRC, they will find multiple times over in our local church.
Should a Floyd Corkins decide that he wishes to take revenge against someone on the SPLC’s Hate Map, I plan to be prepared to deal with him.
Fifth, I go armed to confirm my own mindset of resistance to criminality and to tyranny and to openly manifest it to others.
I am prepared spiritually, mentally and physically to confront evil men who would harm my family or who would seek to destroy our way of life, be they petty criminals, deranged psychopaths or governmental tyrants. (Yes, I realize that those three categories often coincide with one another).
I stand with my Baptist forefathers, who during the First War for American Independence took as their mottos: “Resistance to Tyrants is Obedience to God” and “No King, but Jesus.”
Sixth, I go armed to demonstrate to would be tyrants that I will not comply with their dictats to register my firearms or to surrender them to government bureaucrats.
I stand with the Spartans of 480 BC, with our ancestors at the beginning of the First War for Independence, with the Texans of Gonzales in 1835, and with many other brave souls through the years. I say to the tyrants, if you want my arms: Molon Labe -- “Come and Take Them.”

I compiled the following statistics from an article that appeared in the New American magazine. Please take a few moments to compare the facts to the lies and innuendoes that the liberals are presenting on the issue of the Second Amendment.
The liberal lie: The murder rate with guns has increased astronomically in recent years.
The TRUTH: In 1974, handguns were involved in 11,125 murders, in 1988 that figure had fallen to 8,275. In 1966 murder with guns accounted for 64.8 percent of the total murders, in 1985 that figure was 58.7 percent. The fact is gun ownership has been on the increase (more than doubling since 1968), while murder with guns has been on the decrease.
The liberal lie: A handgun is much more likely to be used by a criminal in the conduct of a crime than by a citizen in legitimate self-defense.
The TRUTH: In an average year, law-abiding citizens use handguns 645,000 times to defend themselves from criminal action, compared to an average of 581,000 misuses of handguns by criminals.
The liberal lie: Our police will protect the citizen from criminal activity.
The TRUTH: Civilians lawfully kill approximately three times more assailants and robbers than do the police. Indeed, a survey of felons in state prisons across the country found that 57 percent said they were more worried about confronting an armed citizen than running into the police. A Justice Department study estimates that 83 percent of children now aged 12 will be victims of some kind of violent felony during their lifetime, and our police forces will be unable to prevent this. Citizens must take the responsibility for their own protection.
The liberal lie: Those who arm themselves and resist a criminal assault are more likely to be seriously injured or killed than those who passively submit to a criminal’s demands.
The TRUTH: Those who passively submit to a criminal’s demands are twice as likely to be injured (gratuitously), as those who use a firearm to resist criminal assault.
The liberal lie: Women who resist criminal assault with a firearm will have their own weapons used against them.
The TRUTH: The records show no example of such an occurrence. Quoting from the article: “A police academy instructor simultaneously trained a male police academy class and a group of civilian women (most of whom had never held a revolver, much less fired one). The instructor ‘found that after one hour on the range and two hours of classroom instruction the women consistently outshot police cadets who had received eight times as much formal instruction and practice.’ Other studies have shown that the average woman is actually superior to the average man in many physical and mental traits related to shooting skills.”
Know the facts, and defend your Constitutional Right to Keep and to Bear Arms. If the liberals have their way, they will take yet another precious freedom from you.

"Let the stranger who in future times sees this emblem
recognize--
That these were men
whom death could not terrify,
whom defeat could not dishonor,
and let their virtues
plead for a just judgment
of the cause
in which they perished."
From the Confederate Monument in

"Governor,
if I had foreseen the use those people designed
to make of their victory,
there would have been no surrender
at Appomattox Court House; no, sir, not by me.
Had I foreseen these results of subjugation,
I would have preferred to die at Appomattox
with my brave men, my sword in this right hand."
(General Lee to Governor Stockdale in August 1870)
"We see many Baptists, so-called Baptists, in our day of compromise,
saying the name Baptist is not important.
If it’s not, why is our history full of Baptists? If it’s not important, why did God call John,
“The Baptist”?
Take away the name Baptist, and you take away history.
Multitudes died because they were Baptist, not members of some no-name church.
The name Baptist tells the world who we are and what we believe.
If there was ever a time that Baptists needed to know their history,
or where they came from, it's today.
Secular history would have us believe we came out of the Reformation. Sad!
To say the average Baptist is ignorant concerning our heritage,
would be an understatement. In the words of the prophet Jeremiah—"
